Kindergarten

We offer both a “full-day” and a part-time Kindergarten  program at GVCC.   The students learn in a fun and stimulating environment with a great balance of work and play!  Our math curriculum is aligned with the Common Core standards and our letter book kit contains a book for each letter of the alphabet for the children to work on each week.  The children also journal daily and the progress is exciting to see as they learn to draw, write and read over the course of the academic year.

In our classroom we give each child a homework folder in which notes and worksheets will be brought back and forth to school.  This is a wonderful way to prepare the child for first grade expectations.   We also have a reward system using nuggets.  The students earn nuggets for school work and various good deeds.  Conversely, they can lose nuggets for bad choices and not following classroom rules.  On Fridays, the children graph their nuggets and “shop” at our class store!
